Empowering Communities to Combat SGBV and Promote Justice in Guriceel, Somalia 29–30 April 2025 | Guriceel District, Galmudug State
ILEYS Humanitarian and Development Services, in partnership with UNTMIS and UNICEF, conducted a two-day training workshop focused on Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV), justice, and accountability. The event brought together 25 diverse participants—including community leaders, civil society organizations (CSOs), and persons with disabilities—to build capacity in addressing SGBV, promoting survivor-centered approaches, and strengthening institutional responses.
Key topics covered included Somalia’s legal frameworks, advocacy strategies for human rights defenders (HRDs), and practical GBV mitigation efforts. Through interactive sessions, case studies, and group discussions, participants developed community-based solutions such as awareness campaigns, safe spaces for survivors, and policy advocacy tools.
The training emphasized sustained capacity building, stronger collaboration, and enhanced public awareness. It aligned with national gender policies and aimed to support long-term change across Galmudug State.
